Kitchen Cabinet Spring Cleaning

With Spring here – if you are like most people spend some time cleaning your house inside & out. Your kitchen cabinets can be one of the most expensive items in your house – but how do you take care of them and give them the TLC that they deserve?

Kitchen cabinets tend to collect more grease, food spills, and moisture than most other parts of the house. Grime builds up fastest around handles of doors and drawers, which are constantly opened by sticky hands. With that in mind you want to wipe down the most used cabinets on a regular basis & we suggest doing a deep clean & “spruce-up” on your cabinets every 6 months to keep them looking new.

To clean off the grease, grime and normal wear & tear – just about any household cleaner will work, but you will want to test an area that is not widely used to ensure that it will not damage the paint or finish. For the normal wipe-down, just a sponge with warm soapy water will work great – just make sure to wipe the area dry after you clean it. For a deep clean – we suggest using a cleaner like Simple Green – this will cut through the grease and grime buildup with everyday use.

When you are done with cleaning the cabinets and you notice the finish looks a little dull – apply some furniture polish or wax to bring the life back to the finish.
